No-preparation and minimal-preparation
Whitening, enameloplasty, cosmetic bonding, gum contouring and clear aligners require no or negligible removal of tooth structure. Minimal-preparation veneers and Lumineers remove a fraction of a millimetre where needed.
Why it is the default
Enamel does not grow back. A restoration will one day need renewal, and the tooth beneath must still be healthy when that day comes.
Design makes it possible
Knowing the final shape in advance is what allows preparation to be limited to exactly what that shape needs. Digital smile design is the tool that makes conservative dentistry precise.
