Crowns & Bridges (CAD/CAM)
Same-visit CAD/CAM crowns and bridges in Kuwait: zirconia, e.max, and how to tell a good crown from a cheap one.
A crown covers and protects a tooth that is too damaged for a filling; a bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to its neighbours. With CAD/CAM, both are designed on screen from a digital scan and milled from a solid block of ceramic, which means a precise fit, no impression material, and often a single visit.
The material is chosen for the job: zirconia where strength matters most, lithium disilicate (e.max) where translucency and a natural look matter most. A good crown is invisible at the gum line, matches its neighbours in colour and translucency, and bites comfortably; a cheap one shows a dark line, looks flat, and shortens the life of the tooth.
Who it is for
- Teeth weakened by large fillings, cracks or root canal treatment
- Replacing a single missing tooth where an implant is not chosen
- Renewing old crowns with dark margins or poor colour
- Restoring worn teeth as part of a smile makeover
How it is done
- Digital scan; no impression trays
- On-screen design matched to the neighbouring teeth
- Milling and characterisation in ceramic
- Try-in, bite check and bonding, often the same day
Recovery and care
Sensitivity for a few days is normal. Crowns and bridges are cleaned like teeth, with special attention to flossing under a bridge. With good hygiene and a night guard where needed, they serve for many years; the margins are checked at each hygiene visit.
Frequently asked questions
Zirconia for back teeth and heavy bites; e.max for front teeth where translucency matters. Sometimes layered zirconia gives both.
Often, yes, with CAD/CAM. Complex colour matching for a single front tooth may still deserve a laboratory stage.
Metal underneath or a margin that no longer fits. Modern all-ceramic crowns fitted correctly do not.
