An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a titanium post that bonds to the jawbone; a crown, bridge or full-arch restoration is then fixed onto it. Done well, it is the closest thing to a natural tooth in function and appearance.
The part patients see is the crown. The part that decides success is the planning underneath: bone volume, gum thickness, bite forces and implant position. Dr. Ali Majki plans implants from 3D imaging so that the final crown is designed first and the implant is placed to serve it.

Recovery and care
Mild discomfort for a few days after placement is usual. Integration takes weeks to months depending on the bone. Implants need the same hygiene as teeth and, for grinders, a night guard. International patients are given a two-stage travel plan so the healing period is spent at home.

It is done under local anaesthesia and most patients report less discomfort than they expected, controlled with ordinary painkillers.
With healthy gums and good hygiene, an implant can last decades. The crown on top may need renewal earlier, like any restoration.
